How Veriff replaced MuleSoft with Cargo as the sync layer under NetSuite, Stripe and Salesforce

Before Cargo

An integration layer that ate the API budget

"Our main challenge was the high number of API calls and the maintenance load due to the Mulesoft integration between Netsuite and Salesforce. This was eating into our API limit and affecting our overall efficiency."

Arjun Ganatra
Revenue Operations Manager@Veriff

Veriff’s billing, payments and sales data lived in three systems: NetSuite, Stripe and Salesforce. A MuleSoft integration carried data between NetSuite and Salesforce. It made about 15,000 API calls a day, ate into Salesforce’s API limit, and cost the team half a day every week in debugging.

Payment data that never reached sales

Stripe sat outside the integration entirely. Reps could not see when a free user added a payment method, so they missed the moment to start a conversation.

Product data stuck in the warehouse

Product usage lived in the data warehouse, and nothing packaged it for Salesforce. The signals that showed a free user was ready for sales stayed where reps never looked.

What runs on Cargo

Veriff replaced MuleSoft with Cargo as the layer between its systems. Each sync is a play: it triggers on a change in one system, reads what it needs, and writes to the others. Three plays now carry the data that used to be split across MuleSoft, manual work and nothing at all.

Play 1: NetSuite and Salesforce in sync

"Cargo made it super easy to create accounts in Netsuite when a closed-won account is detected in Salesforce, significantly reducing our API calls and maintenance efforts."

Arjun Ganatra
Revenue Operations Manager@Veriff

When an account is marked closed-won in Salesforce, the play creates the customer in NetSuite. It looks up the Salesforce account and any existing NetSuite ID, works out the primary and secondary currencies and the service pattern, posts the customer to NetSuite, then writes the NetSuite customer ID back to Salesforce. Both systems hold the same record, and the play only calls an API when something changed.

Play 2: Stripe payments in Salesforce

"With Cargo, we were able to create accounts and opportunities in Salesforce as soon as a payment method is detected for a Stripe customer, providing our sales reps with real-time insights."

Arjun Ganatra
Revenue Operations Manager@Veriff

The play triggers on a new Stripe customer. It finds the matching Salesforce account and updates it, or creates the account and maps the Stripe details onto it. It then finds or creates the contact by email, updates the lead status, and opens a self-serve opportunity if one does not already exist. Reps see payment and usage activity in Salesforce without doing any extra work.

Play 3: Product signals summarized for reps

"Cargo allowed us to synthesize key product data showing positive trends using AI and then package it for our sales reps to view in Salesforce, ensuring they have all the insights they need in one place."

Arjun Ganatra
Revenue Operations Manager@Veriff

The play reads product data showing positive trends from the warehouse. It uses the system prompt and output formatting of Cargo’s OpenAI integration to turn those data points into a short, consistent digest, and writes the digest to Salesforce. It also sends a Slack message to the account owner and one to the team, which the team found made reps react faster.

The outcome

5x fewer API calls a day

API calls fell from 15,000 to 3,000 a day, and that total now includes Stripe and other integrations the MuleSoft setup never covered.

Half a day a week of debugging down to 4 hours a month

Debugging the integration layer used to take half a day every week. On Cargo it takes about 4 hours a month, and the operations team spends the difference on other work.

50% higher sales data integrity

Sales data integrity rose by 50%. Records are more accurate, and fewer opportunities slip through.

15% more pure sales time

Automating non-sales work won back 15% of pure sales time for Veriff’s reps.
